Jack Schnirman served as Nassau County Comptroller from 2017 to 2022, where, as Chief Financial Officer, he identified $137 million in waste, fraud, and abuse and recovered $12.4 million in taxpayer funds. He prioritized transparency and modernization, launching initiatives like the Open Nassau Transparency Hub and data-driven “smart audits.” Previously, as Long Beach City Manager, he led the city’s recovery from near-bankruptcy and Superstorm Sandy, rebuilding critical infrastructure ahead of schedule and improving its bond rating. He also served as Chief Deputy Town Supervisor in Brookhaven. Schnirman now works in nonprofit health care and teaches at SUNY Old Westbury and Hofstra University.
