Robert Zimmerman is a businessman and political advocate from Long Island. Growing up as a closeted gay kid in the suburbs, Robert struggled to find his voice and was driven to a career in political activism to speak up for others who were unseen and unheard both in his Long Island community and as a Democratic National Committeeman.

Robert began his career as a Congressional staffer for Representative Lester Wolff and later as an advisor to Representatives James Scheuer and Gary Ackerman. From Capitol Hill, Robert’s career took him to the TV networks, where he stood up to extremism and right-wing talking points.

Back in his hometown of Great Neck, Robert started a small business. Now in its 38th year, ZE Creative Communications has grown and thrived through changing economies, severe recessions, and a global pandemic. ZECC has earned multiple awards and recognition over three decades.

As his national voice grew, Robert was nominated by President Clinton to serve on the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Presidential Commission on the Arts and by President Obama to serve on the National Council on the Humanities. He currently serves on the board of Reach Out America and served for 20 years on the Board of Trustees of the American Museum of Natural History as a government representative. Robert is a product of Great Neck Public Schools, graduated cum laude from Brandeis University, and received his MBA from Fordham University.
