Colleen Jaurretche is a Continuing Lecturer in the Department of English at UCLA where she teaches (among other writers) the most famously banned one of all: James Joyce. She has published three books on him and numerous essays. Jaurretche has also just completed a memoir set in her native northeast Los Angeles told through the stories and landscapes of her European, Mexican and Indigenous family. In 2010 she co-founded and now co-directs the Libros Schmibros Lending Library, located in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, and is co-founder and -editor of the 21st Century Federal Writers’ Project.
