Anthony Policano is an Italian American poet and photographer, born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens and Long Island. His writing is inspired by music, romance, movies, good coffee, strange dreams, art, religion, surrealism, travel, la famiglia, his upbringing, his conscience and what comes next.
Anthony is a board member of; the Long Island Poetry Collective (LIPC) and the Long Island Poetry and Literary Repository (LIP&LR). He was editor of “A Taste of Poetry” an anthology of poems and recipes published by the Walt Whitman Birthplace Association. His photography has been used on various poetry book covers.
Anthony’s poems have been selectively published in many print and online journals and he has featured at many venues, most notably; The Walking with Whitman series at the WWBP, The Parkside Lounge in NYC and The Bowery Poetry Club in NYC. His poems have been read on radio; WNYC’s Morning Edition, Finn’s Revolution (WUSB), and Calliope’s Corner (WRHU). He was a participant in George Wallace’s
“Poets Building Bridges” an on-line Zoom series connecting poets across the globe. During the pandemic Anthony began a weekly Zoom workshop for poets of all levels which is still going strong today.
His first book of poetry is; Before the Birth of Cool (Words with Wings Press, Dec. 2024).
